Would you like to learn how to make glass beads ?
With effect from 1st June 2011 I am pleased to be able to offer
various tuition packages in this fabulous technique known as
Lampworking - 'The art of melting glass rods in the flame of a torch'.
With over 10 years of bead making experience tuition takes place in my newly built studio, in the beautiful market town of Barnard Castle in Co. Durham, which is fully insulated and ventilated to offer a comfortable and safe environment for you to work in.
I am fully insured and have individual workstations to accommodate up to three people at a time. I have three torches, two Nortel Minor Burners and a Nortel Mid Range with Minor Top plus a fully equipt workshop.
Taster Sessions - £60 per person.
A 3 hour session for the complete beginner, which allows the
beginner to observe how beads are made and the opportunity to
have a go themselves. Use of all equipment and materials is included. All beads made are to keep, posted the following day after they have been annealed and cleaned.
Beginner Workshop - £120 per person.
This 6 hour session (10am - 4pm) includes the use of materials and equipment as well as:
- Bead making tuition on making glass beads, decoration techniques including applying dots, pulling and applying stringers and shaping beads.
- All beads made are to keep, posted the following day after they have been annealed and cleaned.
- Course notes on health & safety, equipment and basic techniques.
Intermediate Worshop - £120 per person.
This 6 hour session (10am - 4pm) includes the use of materials and equipment as well as:
- Refining techniques as well as an introduction to more advanced techniques such as encasing, hollow beads and the use of presses.
- Course notes on health & safety, equipment and techniques.
- All beads made are to keep, posted the following day after they have been annealed and cleaned.
Intermediate Sessions - One to one instruction £20 per hour (2 hours min)
This one to one session will help you master that certain technique for example hollow beads. Please contact me to discuss requirements.
This session includes use of materials and equipment as well as:
- All beads made are to keep, posted the following day after they have been annealed and cleaned.
Additional Information:
- 10% reduction for two or more persons attending together.
- Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
- Please bring a packed lunch.
Rent a Torch - Only available to my previous students - details on request.
